Middlebury advanced in the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament with a 5-0 victory on Saturday over SUNY Geneseo in a match started on Middlebury's Proctor Tennis Courts and finished in the Nelson Recreational Center. The second-ranked Panthers (15-4) will play 12th-ranked Amherst (7-9) on Sunday at 12:00 p.m., while the Knights conclude their season at 13-9.

Middlebury raced out to a 3-0 advantage at the conclusion of doubles. The Panthers' Alexandra Fields and Christina Puccinelli posted an 8-1 victory at No. 3 over SUNY Geneseo's Nina Lurie and Jennifer Buckout. After moving indoors, Middlebury doubled its lead when Kaysee Orozco and Catherine Blazye tallied an 8-0 victory over Vanessa Lam-Tran and Rachel Ollis in the second flight. The No. 1 duo of Skylar Schossberger and Katherine Hughes rounded out the sweep with an 8-1 triumph over the Knights' Lauren Salzano and Anika Pornpitaksuk.

In singles matches, the Panthers were victorious at No. 4 and No. 3 within minutes of each other to seal the match, surrendering just two games on the four courts. In the fourth spot, Heather Boehm defeated Lam-Tran by scores of 6-0, 6-0, while Blazye clinched the match at No. 3 by similar 6-0, 6-0 tallies against Ollis.

The remaining two matches competing went unfinished, while the No. 5 and No. 6 singles never took to the court. Fields grabbed the opening set by a 6-0 score and was ahead 3-0 at No.1 against Salzano, while Puccinelli was up by a set (6-0) and led 4-2 against Pornpitaksuk in the second flight.
