Middlebury finished in fourth place overall at the 2017 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship, hosted by Bowdoin in the Greason Pool. Williams captured its fourth-consecutive title, amassing 1,856 points during the three-day meet. Amherst finished in second place with 1,367 points, followed by Connecticut College (1.268.5), Middlebury (1,174) and Bates (1,159.5).
Individually, Nora O'Leary set a school record in the morning's preliminary swim during the 200 breaststroke with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 2:19.09. Her morning swim bettered the time of 2:20.21 set by Jamie Hillas in 2014. During the evening's championship final, she posted a fourth-place time of 2:19.97.
Angela Riggins began the final evening for the Panthers with an eighth-place finish in the 1,650 free in 17:49.16.
A few events later, Frances VanderMeer swam to a sixth-place effort in the 100 free (52.27), while Morgan Burke was right behind in seventh (52.28). Another top-10 finish came from Celia Ripple, who was 10th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.18.
Following her eighth-place effort during Friday's 1-meter final, Elissa DeNunzio dove to a sixth-place finish in Sunday's 3-meter competition with 392.25 points.
In the final event of the evening, the Middlebury team of VanderMeer, Isabel Wyer, Kristin Karpowicz and Burke finished fifth in the 400 free relay with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 3:28.95.
