Middlebury advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals after a 5-0 victory over The College of New Jersey in a match played indoors at the Nelson Recreational Center. The fifth-ranked Panthers (14-4) will play 13th-ranked Johns Hopkins, who defeated Elizabethtown 5-0 in the day's other match, on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. TCNJ finishes its season at 13-5.
Middlebury swept all three doubles matches, grabbing a 3-0 lead. The Panther duo of Alexandra Fields and Christina Puccinelli picked up the first point at #3 doubles with an 8-1 win over Anna Prestera and Alyssa Baldi. Middlebury's Ria Gerger and Lily Bondy made the score 2-0 with an 8-1 victory over Grace Minassian and Maddy Stoner in the top flight. The #2 tandem of Sadie Shackelford and Kaysee Orozco completed the sweep with an 8-3 triumph over TCNJ's Emma Allen and Sneha Rangu.
In the singles matches, Middlebury picked up their fourth point with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #1 from Gerger over Reedman. Puccinelli clinched the match for the Panthers via a 6-1, 6-1 triumph in the fourth spot over Prestera.
The remaining four matches went unfinished. Fields grabbed the opening set by a 6-2 score and was ahead 2-1 at #2 against Allen, while Bondy was up by a set (6-3) and led 1-0 against Rangu at the #3 spot. The other two matches didn't take to the court.
