Isabel Wyer earned All-American honors with a fifth-place finish in the 500 freestyle during day one of action Wednesday at the 2016 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. The four-day event is taking place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina and is hosted by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Stopping the clock with the morning's fourth-best time and lowering her own school record with a time of 4:52.65, Wyer swam to a fifth-place finish in 4:53.36 during the evening's final. Her effort netted the Panther women a total of 14 team points. Marysol Arce of Kenyon won the event, touching the wall in 4:48.52.
The second day of competition takes place on Thursday with preliminaries at 10:00 a.m., while the finals are slated for 6:00 p.m. The Panther women will take part in two events as Wyer and Morgan Burke will swim in the 200 freestyle, while the quartet of Wyer, Burke, Stephanie Andrews and Kristin Karpowicz will take to the water in the 200 freestyle relay.
