The three-day Middlebury Invitational Women's Tennis Tournament featured a quartet of teams that played a form of hidden duals from Friday through Sunday. Action took place inside the Nelson Recreational Center as well as the Middlebury Indoor Tennis facility. Teams competing in the invitational were Middlebury, Amherst, Brandeis and Williams.
The format for the invitational saw teams playing a dual in either singles or doubles against each other, as either six singles or three doubles matches were contested. There was no-ad scoring to help speed up action, as singles played the best two-of-three format with a tiebreaker set in the third and doubles was one pro-set.
Middlebury competed in doubles matches on Friday evening against Williams and Brandeis. The duos of Catherine Blazye and Molly Paradies as well as Christina Puccinelli and Maddi Stow earned wins against the Ephs. The Panther teams of Lily Bondy and Skylar Schossberger, Katherine Hughes and Puccinelli, Heather Boehm and Paradies were triumphant, while the pairs of Stow and Blazye swept their respective matches against the Judges.
On Saturday in singles against Brandeis, Puccinelli, Schossberger, Paradies, Boehm and Blazye all picked up straight-set wins. Later in the day against Amherst, the Panthers posted victories in five of the six matches, all coming in straight sets. Alexandra Fields, Hughes, Boehm, Stow and Blazye tallied victories.
Finishing the day, the Panther women split the six singles matches against Williams. Fields and Puccinelli needed the superbreaker in the third set to get past their opponents, while Paradies cruised in straight sets.
Sunday's play featured exclusively doubles action, as the Panthers competed against Amherst. The tandems of Schossberger and Hughes, Kaysee Orozco and Stow along with Puccinelli and Boehm earned wins.
The invitational concludes the fall portion of the season for Middlebury.
