The Middlebury women's tennis team opened its 2015-16 season by taking part in the annual Lindsay Morehouse Invitational hosted by Williams. During the two-day event, individuals from Middlebury, Skidmore, Vassar, Wesleyan and Williams squared off in three rounds of singles and doubles matches. No overall tournament winner was crowned at the end of the Invitational, rather the tournament is meant to celebrate the kickoff of the fall tennis season.
During the first day of singles play, Lily Bondy and Lauren Amos highlighted play with a pair of victories. Also picking up wins were Ria Gerger, Sadie Shackelford and Shannon Gibbs.
In doubles action, the team of Gerger and Bondy went 1-1 on day one, while Amos and Gibbs fell in their lone match.
Several Panthers were in action on day two during singles play with competitive matches. Bondy, Amos and Gibbs each earned straight-set wins.
The Panthers have two weeks off from competition before they play host to the three-day ITA Championships from September 25-27.
