The Middlebury women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Regional Final after a 5-0 win over Simmons (17-5) in a match played at Bowdoin. The Panthers (10-6) will take on the host school Sunday at noon with a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals on the line.
Middlebury surrendered just two games in doubles play, cruising to three victories. Alexandra Fields and Lauren Amos started things off by blanking Han DK Le and Katie Crowley 8-0 at #3. The top pairing of Lily Bondy and Ria Gerger made quick work of Theresa Reinhard and Meg Cokely, 8-1. Kaysee Orozco and Jennifer Sundstrom completed the sweep at #2 with an 8-1 win over Rachael Downey and Caroline Khoury.
Bondy didn't need much time to make it a 4-0 match at #3, defeating Downey 6-0, 6-0. The match ended shortly thereafter when Gerger downed Reinhard 6-2, 6-0 in the top spot.
Fields, Orozco and Katie Paradies were up a set, while Simmons' Katie Crowley led Margot Marchese 5-4 in the first set.
