Box Score 2 The Panther softball team won two more games on Wednesday, topping Thomas 11-0 in five innings before taking a 7-3 victory over Carleton in Florida. Middlebury wraps-up its spring break schedule on Thursday when it takes on Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Elmhurst.
Middlebury opened up a 1-0 game with five in the third and four in the fourth against Thomas. An RBI single in the first by Carlyn Vachow put the Panthers on the board. Kat Maehr and Erin Giles each earned two-run singles in the third inning as Middlebury took a 5-0 lead.
Runs continued in the fifth inning with an RBI double from Hye-Jin Kim. Maehr tripled in Kim, while Giles hit an RBI single. The Panthers added an RBI single by Maehr in the fifth to seal the win.
Allison Quigley picked up the five-inning win, tossing a three-hit shutout with three strikeouts. Maehr finished the game 3-4 with four RBI and two runs scored to along with her triple. Giles went 2-3 with three driven in, while Quigley and Siobhan O'Sullivan each had a pair of hits.
Middlebury jumped on the board in the first inning with a pair of runs against Carleton. Taylor Gardner drove in a run with an RBI single.
The game remained 2-0 until the top of the sixth when Carleton took the lead with three runs on two hits and a pair of Panther errors.
Middlebury answered in the bottom half of the inning with five runs to take a 7-3 lead. RBI singles from Gardner, Kelsey Martel and Kati Daczkowski sparked the inning for Middlebury.
Neve Stearns allowed one earned run on two hits with four Ks over 5.2 innings of work, while Quigley tossed 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.
Gardner finished the game 2-2 with two RBI, while Martel was 2-3.
