Women's Tennis Begins Spring Break Trip With 7-2 Loss to #5 CMS

The 10th-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team began its annual spring break trip to California with a 7-2 loss Saturday afternoon to host and fifth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. The Panthers will have a few days off before they return to the court Tuesday with a match at UC-San Diego at 2:00 p.m.

CMS took two of three points during the doubles play with Middlebury's point coming in the third slot. Alexandra Fields and Lauren Amos edged past Lindsay Brown and Bria Smith by an 8-6 score.

In singles, Middlebury's lone point came at No. 1 from Ria Gerger. Gerger defeated one of the west region's top-ranked players, Caroline Ward, in straight sets by identical 6-4, 6-4 scores.
