Middlebury, ranked 19th nationally, remains in third place following the second day of the 2015 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship hosted by Wesleyan. Eighth-ranked Williams increased its lead on day two with a two-day total of 1,406.5 points, while 17th-ranked Bates (1,010), Middlebury (886.5), #20 Amherst (757) and Bowdoin (708.5) round out the top five.
In the night's initial championship final, the 200 medley relay quartet of Sarah Bartholomae, Jamie Hillas, Megan Griffin and Courtney Haron touched the wall in third place with a time of 1:44.72, an NCAA 'B' cut time.
Hillas nearly lowered her own record time finishing in the runner-up spot during the 100-meter breaststroke with an NCAA 'B' cut mark of 1:03.10.
Other notable performances came from Griffin in the 100 fly with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 57.17 for sixth place. A pair of eighth-place efforts were posted by Haron in the 200 free (1:54.77) and Madeline Pierce during the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:37.52.
In the evening's final event, the 800 free relay team of Burke, Haron, Stephanie Andrews and Sara Swett posted a fourth-place time of 7:46.18.
The Panthers will conclude the championship Sunday. Morning preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., while the finals session will start at 5:15 p.m. with the 1,650 freestyle.
