Box Score Middlebury's Adam Glaser scored a goal and added two assists, while Greg Conrad tallied two goals leading the hosts to a 5-0 victory Tuesday over visiting Plymouth State. With his two helpers, Glaser has established a Middlebury single-season record with 10, surpassing Josh Shapiro who recorded nine in 1995. Middlebury (10-2-1) returns to action Saturday afternoon with a NESCAC road contest against Bates at 2:00 p.m., while Plymouth State (7-5-1) travels to UMass Dartmouth on the same day.
The hosts grabbed a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when Tom Bean headed in a corner kick from Glaser. The score was Bean's fourth of the season.
Middlebury kept the pressure up over the next 22 minutes, doubling its lead at 28:29. Kirk Horton gathered a loose ball in the corner, sending a cross to the far post that Tyler Bonini tapped in for his fourth of the fall.
The score remained that way as the hosts held Plymouth State without a shot attempt in the opening half.
Out of the break, Glaser gave Middlebury a three-goal edge in the 46th minute when he blasted a curling shot from eight yards out to the far post for his seventh score this season. A little more than 13 minutes later, Glaser broke the assist record when he lofted a cross from the right that was headed into the upper-left corner by Conrad.
Plymouth State's best scoring opportunity of the match came in the 62nd minute. Erik Ljunglof headed a cross toward the Middlebury goal that was punched away by a diving Greg Sydor.
Conrad capped the scoring at 74:13 with his second of the match and sixth of the year when his tapped in a cross by Jeremy Barovick.
Middlebury held advantages in both shots (35-4) and corner kicks (10-4). Sydor finished with three saves for his fifth shutout this season and 13th of his career, while Danny Marsh was credited with 12 stops for the visitors.
