The Middlebury women's tennis team had several players taking part in the USTA/ITA New England Regional hosted by Williams. The respective winners advanced to the Small College Championships at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina from October 9-12, 2014.
In the main singles draw, Alexandra Fields and Kaysee Orozco each picked up a win during their respective opening-round matches in the bracket of 64, but both were defeated in their ensuing matches.
After dropping their matches in the main draw, Katie Paradies and Lily Bondy were both placed into the consolation bracket. Paradies and Bondy each posted a pair of wins in those matches, including Bondy's 6-0, 6-0 victory over Meghan Cokely of Simmons.
In doubles play, Bondy and Fields earned an 8-1 win in their first-round match, but were beaten in the round of 16, 8-4. The Panther duo of Orzoco and Jennifer Sundstrom were defeated in the first round by an 8-6 score, but breezed during their initial consolation match by an 8-0 score.
The Panthers return to the court next weekend as they host the annual Middlebury Invitational. The three-day event will take place from Friday-Sunday, October 3-5.
