The Middlebury women's tennis team opened its 2014-15 season by taking part in the annual Lindsay Morehouse Invitational hosted by Williams. During the two-day event, individuals from Bowdoin, Skidmore, Vassar, Middlebury and Williams squared off in three rounds of singles and doubles matches. No overall tournament winner was crowned at the end of the Invitational, rather the tournament is meant to celebrate the kickoff of the fall tennis season.
During the first day of singles play, Shannon Gibbs highlighted the opening day with a pair of straight-set victories. Also picking up wins were Alexandra Fields, Kaysee Orozco and Jennifer Sundstrom.
In doubles action, the team of Orozco and Sundstrom along with the tandem of Gibbs and Katie Paradies both fell in their lone matches.
Several Panthers were in action on day two during singles play with competitive matches.
The Panthers have two weeks off from competition before they return to Massachusetts to take part in the three-day ITA Championships hosted by Williams from September 26th-28th.
