#10 Women's Tennis Concludes Home Schedule With 7-2 Win Against #18 Tufts

The Middlebury women's tennis team concluded the home portion of its regular-season schedule with a 7-2 NESCAC victory over #18 Tufts (9-8, 5-4). The 10th-ranked Panthers (9-5, 4-2) wrap up their regular season at Amherst on Saturday, while Tufts is idle until the NESCAC Championship, May 2-4 at Bowdoin.

Middlebury grabbed a 2-1 lead following doubles, as the #1 team of Ria Gerger and Kaysee Orozco defeated Shelci Bowman and Jacqueline Baum, 8-4. The #2 tandem of Lily Bondy and Alexandra Fields picked up the second point with an 8-6 win against Samantha Gann and Alexa Meltzer.

The Jumbos gained their point in the third slot with a narrow 9-8 (7-5) win from Conner Calabro and Chelsea Hayashi over Katie Paradies and Dorrie Paradies.

The Panthers took five of the six singles contests, including four in straight sets. Fields was the first to finish with a 6-0, 6-2 winner at #2 over Meltzer, while Gerger recorded a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the top slot against Gann. Orozco emerged with a 6-3, 6-4 win at #3 against Calabro, while D. Paradies claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win against Baum.

Tufts claimed its lone point of the match with a 1-6, 6-3, 12-10 win from Rebecca Kimmel over K. Paradies. Bondy grabbed the seventh team point for the Panthers with a 6-2, 3-6, 8-6 win over Bowman in the #4 slot.
