Middlebury junior Jamie Hillas finished in 16th place during the 200 breaststroke Saturday evening during the 2014 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. The four-day event was co-hosted by Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corporation in the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.
As a team, Hillas and the rest of the Panther women racked up 44 points, good for 18th-place in the team standings. On the men's side, Ian Mackay represented Middlebury and accumulated 22 points for 28th place.
During Saturday morning's preliminaries, Hillas posted a time of 2:20.76. She carried that momentum into the consolation final and garnered honorable mention All-American status touching the wall in 2:20.27. That mark is just above her school-record mark of 2:20.21 she posted during the NESCAC Championship last month.
Also competing on an individual basis during the final day was Mackay. The fourth-year Panther capped off his career as he tied for 17th in the 100 free with a time of 45.23. Mackay's time Saturday morning was just .01 away from the school-record mark of 45.22 set by J.P. Gowdy in 1999.
The women's 400 free relay quartet of Morgan Burke, Hillas, Megan Griffin and Andrea Tibbetts completed its championship with a 25th-place effort in a time of 3:33.92.
