Women's Tennis Opens Fall At Williams

The Middlebury College women's tennis team took part in the Lindsay Morehouse Invitational at Williams. Players from Williams, Middlebury, Vassar, Bowdoin and Skidmore had the opportunity to compete this weekend in the Invitational. No championship winner is crowned at the end of the weekend, with the tournament providing several quality early season matches.

Sophomore Ria Gerger (Houston, Texas) earned a win in the top singles flight (Mark Hopkins), including a victory over Kara Shoemaker of Williams in the finals. Junior Katie Paradies (Atlanta, Ga.) advanced to the finals of the Fayerweather Hall flight, before falling to Hannah Atkinson of Williams.

A third Panther advanced to the finals as sophomore Sadie Shackelford (Sweanee, Tenn.) fell to Riqui McCoy of Williams in the Mission Park Flight. In doubles play, sophomore Margot Marchese (Summit, N.J.) and rookie Jennifer Sundstrom (Bradenton, Fla.) went undefeated in round robin play.
