Women's Basketball Thumps Albany Pharmacy

Leading 33-21 at intermission, Middlebury outscored Albany Pharmacy 42-7 in the second half for a dominating 75-28 victory at Pepin Gym. Middlebury (9-8) held Albany Pharmacy to 2-23 shooting from the field in the second, while out-rebounding the visitors 50-16 for the game. The 47-point victory is the largest winning margin since a 58-point Middlebury victory over Lesley in 2003.

Middlebury never trailed in the contest, built its first double-digit lead at 19-8 on a lay-up by Kate Logan with 10:44 left in the first half. Albany Pharmacy (8-2) trimmed the deficit to 24-15 on a bucket from Taylor Sullivan at 4:29. It would be the last time Albany Pharmacy would be within single-digits of the hosts as Middlebury took a 33-21 lead into the break.

Middlebury opened up a 20-point lead at 16:46 in the second half when Tracy Borsinger connected from long distance. The lead ballooned to 54-23 at 12:56 on a lay-up by Scarlett Kirk. During the opening seven minutes of the second half, Albany Pharmacy was 1-12 from the floor, while committing eight turnovers.

The Middlebury lead continued to grow as the hosts passed the 40-point threshold on a three from Sarah Marcus at 9:05, eventually peaking at 49 points on a lay-up by Margaret Lindon, for a 75-26 advantage at 5:01.

Borsinger nearly outscored Albany Pharmacy, scoring 24 points in 26 minutes of play on 9-17 shooting, including 6-10 from behind the arc. Eleven other Middlebury players got into the scoring column, highlighted by Logan's 11 points. Kirk and Katie Pett added five assists each, while Pett nabbed a game-best seven rebounds.

Alexa Schooley led Albany Pharmacy with eight points, as Sullivan and Alyson Johnson netted seven apiece.

Middlebury returns to action on Thursday, hosting Keene State, while Albany Pharmacy travels to SUNY Delhi for a Tuesday night tip-off.
