Day one is complete at the NCAA singles and doubles portion of the NCAA Tennis Championships at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. First-year player Lok-Sze Leung won the first set of her opening match 6-0 before Jamie Solomon of Pomona-Pitzer retired in the second set trailing 2-1. Leung then defeated Jordan Wylie of Emory 6-3, 6-4 to advance to Friday's quarterfinal round.
Leah Kepping also competed in singles play, earning a 6-4, 6-4 first-round win over Courtney Lawless of Whitman. The junior was eliminated in the round of 16, falling 6-1, 6-1 to Jennifer Kung of Chicago.
Kepping and her doubles partner, junior Brittney Faber competed in the 16-team doubles bracket. The duo were eliminated in their first match, trailing 3-2 when they were forced to retire.
