The Middlebury women's tennis team competed at the NEWITT (New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament) hosted by Smith, Mt. Holyoke and Amherst. The format of the tournament saw three-point matches, with duos earning a point for a singles win as well as one for a doubles victory.
Senior Leah Kepping (Northport, N.Y.) and first-year player Ria Gerger (Houston, Texas) advanced to the quarterfinal round at the tournament, falling 2-1 to Amherst. Sophomores Katie Paradies (Atlanta, Ga.) and Sarah Macy (Potomac, Md.) dropped their first match, before earning a 3-0 mark in consolation play.
First-year players Lauren Amos (Tuscon, Ariz.) and Sadie Shackelford (Sewanee, Tenn.) as well as seniors Blake Harries (Salt Lake City, Utah and DeeDee Myers (Winnetka, Ill.) each earned 1-1 marks in the main draw. Junior Dorrie Paradies (Atlanta, Ga.) and first-year player Margot Marchese (Summit, N.J.) were 0-1 in the main draw, earning a victory in consolation play.
