Middlebury dropped its fifth straight game as the Panthers lost 62-45 in a NESCAC contest at Colby. The Panthers shot 25 percent from the floor and saw nine shots blocked as they move to 7-14 overall and 1-6 in NESCAC play. The Mules improve to 11-9 and 3-4 in league games.

The Mules had six of their nine blocked shots in the first half in opening up a 31-19 lead. Colby held the Panthers to 24.2 percent shooting (8-for-33) in the opening half and 25 percent (6-for-24) in the final 20 minutes.

Julianne Kowalski and Alison Cappelloni each had double-doubles in scoring and rebounding for the Mules. Kowalski had game-highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Cappelloni finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Rachael Mack nearly joined the double-double club, but settled for 12 points, eight rebounds, five blocked shots, two assists, and two steals. Sam Allen contributed nine points, seven rebounds, and a game-high five assists for Colby.

For the second day in a row, the Mules never trailed in a game. Colby took a 74-72 win over Williams College on Friday night. The Mules led 22-9 when Cappelloni nailed a jumper with 9:38 to play. Middlebury went on a 10-0 run over the next six minutes to cut the margin to 22-19 on a layup by Kaitlyn Fallon with 4:14 to play.

The Mules took over in the final 3:20 of play after going 6:18 without scoring a point. Mack broke the drought with a jumper with 3:20 to play and Kowalski scored five points during a 9-0 run to end the half.

With the Mules up 35-27 in the second half, Middlebury used a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 35-33 on two free throws by Lauren Sanchez with 15:12 to play. Colby steadily pulled away over the next 10 minutes and took a 54-39 lead on a 3-point play by Allen with 5:11 to play. The Panthers would get as close as 11 points the rest of the way.

Sanchez finished with 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals for Middlebury. Emily Johnson added seven points and three assists, while Fallon had six points and five rebounds.
