Women's Tennis Tops Conn.

The Panther women's tennis team convincingly won its only match of the week as they picked up an 8-1 win over Connecticut College in the team's home-opener. Ninth-ranked Middlebury lost only 72 of 84 singles points on the day, dropping only the #1 doubles match.

Junior Amy Roche (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) won at #1 6-1, 6-2, sophomore Amanda Berck (Roslyn, N.Y.) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at #2, while junior Emily Holick (Sudbury, Mass.) cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win in the third slot. Sophomore Amy Berkman (Shelburne, Vt.) won at #4 6-4, 6-2, first-year player Clare Burke (Summit, N.J.) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner in the #5 spot, while first-year player Elizabeth Stone (Cohasset, Mass.) was a 6-0, 6-0 victor at #6.

In doubles action, Roche/Emery fell 8-6 at #1, Holick/Stone won 8-3 at #2, while Berck/Burke
