1/22/05 - The Panther women's swimming and diving team had little trouble with Union on Saturday as they cruised to a 204-95 win.

Senior diver Tessa Truex (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Wethersfield, Conn.) turned in some solid performances as she made the NCAA cut in both the one and three meter diving competitions. Truex won the 1M with 273.90 points, while taking the 3M title with 268.50 points. Also winning two events on the day was first-year swimmer Marika Ross (Shorewood, Wis.), who won both the 50 fly (27.25) and the 200 free (1:58.55).<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Seven other Middlebury women were victorious on the day, including first-year racer Sara Cowie (N. Palm Beach, Fla.) in the 1,650 free (17:36.59), junior McKenna Moreau (Canton, N.Y.) in the 100 backstroke (1:03.53), first-year swimmer Pam Chatikavanij (Bangkok, Thailand) in the 100 free (55.60) and sophomore Rebecca Reingold (Oakland, Calif.) in the 50 backstroke (30.10). Also wining events were first-year swimmer Emily Molitor (Berwyn, Pa.) in the 100 fly (1:02.50), fellow rookie Anna Flores (W. Hartford, Conn.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.36) and another rookie, Katie Chambers (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) in the 400 IM (4:47.06).
