Softball Team Headed To NESCAC Tournament

With a two-game sweep of Hamilton, the Panther softball team has advanced to the NESCAC Tournament. They finished the regular season with a 7-1 NESCAC West record, leaving them in a first place tie with Williams. Unfortunately for Middlebury, the Ephs win the tie-breaker and will host the tournament next weekend. The Panthers will take on Bowdoin next Friday at 5:00 p.m., while Williams meets Tufts in the early game at 2:00 p.m.

In the sweep over Hamilton, Christina Freyer went 4-4 with a three-run homer and three runs scored in game one to lead the Panthers to an 11-1 win. Victoria Glowacky had a three-run single to end the game in the sixth, while four other players had two-hit games. Megan McCarthy picked up the win, striking out six over six innings.

Freyer had an RBI single in the second inning and Glowacky walked with the bases loaded giving Middlebury its only two runs in a 2-0 win in the second game of the series. Michaela George had two hits in the game, while Lauren Bowe and Jennifer Williams combined for solid pitching to earn the team's 20th win of the season.
