HIGHLIGHTS
- At the 10:56 mark of the opening frame, Claire McMichael took the ball into the circle and tried to tuck a reverse sweep inside the left pipe. Mules' goalie Gina Jacoby dove to her right to deny the chance, but the ball whistled just wide.
- Colby looked to break the deadlock with just 47 seconds expired in the second quarter. Christina Sweeney drove toward the cage after intercepting a Middlebury pass, but her windmill attempt was kicked away by Izzy Redzic.Â
- The Panthers nearly broke through at the 18:19 mark. McMichael spun around with a defender on her back and fired an attempt, but Jacoby charged out and denied McMichael's point-blank bid.Â
- Middlebury took a 1-0 edge on a penalty corner from Emma McCann with 23:18 elapsed. Lily Stockwell stopped the insert and faked a pass before sliding the ball to the left side of the circle where Fuqua blasted the ball into the right corner.
- The Panthers carried the momentum into the third frame when Addie Chandler redirected an initial shot by Tessa Herbst for the 2-0 lead with 3:36 expired.
- Nearly two minutes later, Middlebury increased the advantage to 3-0. A defensive save by Colby's Avery Taylor denied an attempt from Anna Powell on a penalty corner, but McCann gathered the loose ball on the left pipe and fed the ball to Fuqua, who lofted it into the upper left corner.Â
- At the 39:11 mark, Fuqua completed her hat trick, gathering a sweeping pass from Stockwell and blasting the ball into the cage for the 4-0 lead.
- Just over five minutes later, the Panthers threatened to tack on another tally, but Jacoby dove to her right to thwart Ally Kennedy's chance.
- Middlebury closed out the scoring in the fourth frame. Jacoby denied an initial doorstep bid from Powell with a nice pad save, but Chandler was there to poke the loose ball into the cage for the 5-0 victory.
