The top-ranked Middlebury field hockey team stifled Bowdoin, not allowing a single shot in the for nearly three quarters to claim a 4-1 triumph. The win was the Panthers 40th-straight overall, a streak dating back to 2022.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Middlebury opened the scoring with just 3:52 elapsed in the game. Following a penalty corner, back-to-back shots by Amy Griffin and Hannah Medwar were denied by goalie Lauren O'Donald. Medwar persisted during a scramble in front of the cage, eventually sneaking the ball past O'Donald on the ground for the 1-0 edge.
- The Panthers doubled their lead (2-0) at the 22:02 mark. An initial shot by Griffin was blocked by a Polar Bear defender and the loose ball bounced off the turf. Lilly Branka was able to get her stick on the ball and tap it into the cage.
- With just 42 ticks off the clock in the second half, Middlebury struck again. Griffin blasted the ball from outside the circle which trickled past the Bowdoin defensive unit. Georgianne Defeo was on the other end, corralling the ball and slipping it into the goal for the 3-0 advantage.
- The Panthers continued pressuring the Polar Bear defense, increasing the lead to 4-0 at the 36:15 mark. Emily Stone rifled a pass from the center of the field to Griffin who swept the ball into the circle. Caroline Segal received the pass, maneuvering around a Bowdoin player and as she was diving to the ground got a beautiful shot off that slipped by O'Donald.
- Bowdoin spoiled the shutout at the end of the third frame, earning a penalty corner with no time left. Caroline Higgins inserted the ball and Clara Noyes stopped it, before whacking it into the cage to capitalize on the squad's only chance of the game.
- Shots were few and far between for Middlebury in the final stanza, as the Panthers eased to the 4-1 victory.

- Defeo has tallied at least one goal in seven-consecutive contests, totaling 10 markers over the span.
- The programs played for the 58th time as Middlebury captured its 30th win over the Polar Bears.
The Panthers have a quick turnaround, traveling to the University of New England on Sunday for a noon start.
