The Middlebury women's soccer team remained unbeaten on the season, posting a 3-0 home shutout against New England College on Sunday. The second-ranked Panthers (7-0-1) return to NESCAC action on Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. contest at Bates, while the Pilgrims (4-6) travel to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

The hosts grabbed a 1-0 lead, netting a goal with 7:23 expired. Magnolia Moskun knocked down a NEC clearing attempt in the penalty area and put a low shot into the back of the net for her first score of the season. Ellie Greenberg had a partial breakaway midway through the frame, but Pilgrim keeper Allie Stoddart made the save, before making a second stop on Greenberg's header attempt on the rebound. Middlebury carried the play throughout the opening 45 minutes, holding a 26-1 edge in shots.

In the second stanza, the Panthers had two quality opportunities a minute apart with just under 15 minutes expired. Stoddart punched a rising shot from Cate Wagner over the crossbar, before a header by Middlebury's Eliza Van Voorhis went wide of the right post. The hosts doubled their lead with 27:35 showing on the clock, as Gretchen McGrath settled a cross on the left side and fired in her third goal in the last two games.

Middlebury capped the scoring with 4:05 left to play when Riley Kinum picked up her first collegiate tally. Cate Shellenback started the play with a cross from the right side that Moskun flicked with her head to Kinum, who fired a shot in from the left side of the penalty area.

Panther goalie Eva Shaw recorded the shutout without making a save, while Stoddart posted a season-high 16 stops for the Pilgrims. The hosts held a decisive 52-1 advantage in shots and took all five corner kicks in the contest.
