Four members of the women's soccer team earned the honor.
Livia Davidson,
Gigi Day,
Stella Espinasse and
Roshann Purcell of the 12th-ranked Middlebury women's soccer team have been tabbed College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District recipients.
HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
- Davidson
- Davidson is a biology major with a minor in global health and secures her initial all-district honor.
- The captain has been a NESCAC All-Academic recipient in each of the last three seasons.
- The goalkeeper appeared in 18 contests this fall with 15 starts, sporting an 11-4-3 record.
- Davidson's 0.893 save percentage leads the NESCAC and ranks 11th in Division III, while her 0.59 goals against average (GAA) and 4.17 saves per contest are both third in the league.
- The senior posted six shutouts this fall, including a clean sheet in three-consecutive contests in October.
- The Panther logged minutes in 25 career games and more than 1,814 minutes. Davidson concludes her time in the navy and white uniform in a tie for second in career save percentage (0.876) and third in GAA (0.60).
- Day
- Securing the accolade for the second-straight year is Day.
- The economics major with a minor in mathematics is a two-time second-team all-conference honoree. The junior was also named the conference's co-rookie of the year in 2023.
- She has garnered NESCAC All-Academic praises in each of the last two seasons.
- The captain played in every contest with 18 starts. She was tied for third on the squad with three goals, each of which was a game-winner.
- In the NESCAC Quarterfinal triumph over Hamilton, Day tapped in the first goal of a 2-0 victory to help Middlebury advance to the semifinals.
- Espinasse
- The accolade marks the first time that Espinasse has earned all-district honors.
- The two-time NESCAC All-Academic selection is majoring in neuroscience with a minor in French.
- Espinasse garnered first-team all-conference honors, marking the initial conference accolade in her career.
- The Panther ranked second on the team with three assists, including the helper on the game-tying goal against Union in September.
- The junior started 18 of Middlebury's 20 matches and was one of four players to eclipse 1,500 minutes this season (1,514).
- Purcell
- The selection is the first all-district award for Purcell.
- The senior captain is a three-time NESCAC All-Academic selection while double-majoring in architecture and Italian.
- Purcell secures her first all-conference honor as a Panther with second team praises. The senior was a staple in the Middlebury back line, ranking second with 1,565 minutes played and the lone Middlebury player to start all 20 contests.
- She anchored a defensive unit that surrendered a NESCAC-low 11 goals and sported a 0.55 GAA.
- In addition to her contributions on the defensive end, Purcell has tallied one marker and one helper this fall.
The CSC Academic All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, December 17.
