Mark Sienko Returns to Middlebury as Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach

The Middlebury women's soccer program welcomes the return of Mark Sienko to the staff as an assistant coach. Sienko previously patrolled the Panther sideline in a similar role from 2015 to 2022.

"We are excited to welcome Mark back to the staff," said head coach Peter Kim. "He is a top-caliber soccer professional who brought the assistant coach position to new heights during his eight years with the program. He has remained a part of the Middlebury women's soccer family during his absence, and we are looking forward to bringing his experience and expertise into our coaching corps."

"I am incredibly grateful to be back in Middlebury, reconnecting with such a special community and place, and once again working alongside the team, Coach Peter and the staff," said Sienko. "It's an exciting opportunity, and I am ready. There is so much to look forward to on the horizon. Go Midd!"

During his initial tenure with the Panthers, Sienko aided in all aspects of practices and games, led individual and group technical training, analyzed game film and assisted with recruiting. He also fulfilled administrative responsibilities and supervised the weight training room. He contributed to a pair of NESCAC titles, two NCAA Regional crowns and a national championship appearance in 2018.

During his time away from Middlebury, he served as the director of operations and head coach of the U10-U12 boys' team at Queen City Football Club, a soccer club with over 350 children. He also co-founded Soccer Roots, a grassroots soccer program with over 300 kids. He serves as the head coach and manages practice planning, coaching, coach recruitment, marketing and other administrative duties, while assisting with the transition from a business to a non-profit organization.

Sienko previously served as the head coach and facility manager for several age groups at Nordic SC, managing an indoor soccer facility with over 400 people while handling administrative tasks and organizing age and skill-appropriate training sessions.

Following high school, Sienko trained with Coleraine FC in Northern Ireland and played professionally for a year in Poland for Stal Rzeszow ZKS. He returned to the United States to earn his bachelor's degree at the University of Vermont, where he played on the club soccer team. He holds a USSF "D" License and an NSCAA Premier Diploma.
