Middlebury has advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the fourth-straight season and fifth time overall after a 5-0 win over sixth-ranked Amherst (16-6) in a quarterfinal match on Monday. The match took place indoors at the West Hills Athletic Club in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The third-ranked Panthers (19-2) will face second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in an NCAA semifinal contest on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead in doubles play when Christina Puccinelli and Maddi Stow made quick work of Maddie Dewire and Anya Ramras, 8-2. The advantage moved to 2-0 when Katherine Hughes and Skylar Schossberger pulled away for an 8-4 triumph over Anya Ivenitsky and Camille Smukler at #2 doubles. The Panthers completed the sweep when Heather Boehm and Ann Martin Skelly were 8-4 winners at #1 over Jackie Bukzin and Kelsey Chen.

Things wrapped up quickly in singles play as Stow downed Claire Evans 6-2, 6-2 at #5 for the 4-0 advantage. Puccinelli ended the match when she bested Dewire 6-2, 6-2 in the #3 slot for the victory.

In the other matches that went unfinished, Boehm was a point away from defeating Bukzin at #1, 6-2, 5-3. Hughes led Smukler 6-4, 4-3 in the second spot, while Emily Bian was up a set on Camilla Trappness at #6, 6-3, 3-2. Ivenitsky took the first set over Schossberger 7-5, with the second set tied at 1-1.

This was the third meeting between the schools this spring, with Middlebury earning a 9-0 win in April and a 5-0 victory during the NESCAC Semifinals. The Panthers last met the Mammoths during NCAA play in 2016, a 5-2 Middlebury victory in the quarterfinal round.
