Alkier Earns All-American Honors at NCAAs

Alpine action took center stage on Friday at the NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Vermont at Stowe Mountain Resort. Middlebury's Justin Alkier earned All-American honors to highlight day two of competition. Dartmouth leads the championship with 259 points, followed by Utah (252.5) and Vermont (245). The Panthers currently sit in 10th place (78) among 21 scoring teams.

Alkier's All-American effort came with a ninth-place finish, earning a time of 1:58.42. Unfortunately, his teammates had a rough morning as both Erik Arvidsson and Tim Gavett fell during their first GS run.

Middlebury's top finisher in the giant slalom was Caroline Bartlett, who just missed All-American honors with an 11th-place finish in 2:02.90. The senior had the fastest time during the first run, bettering her opponents by .14 seconds. Madison Lord placed 30th overall for the Panthers in 2:09.90, while Lucia Bailey fell during her second trip down the mountain.
