The Middlebury women's tennis team continued its unbeaten start to the spring with a 9-0 victory over No. 20 Brandeis (3-4) on Saturday in the Nelson Recreation Center. The sixth-ranked Panthers (2-0) travel west for five matches in California during their spring break trip, starting with a contest at Cal State LA on Sunday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. eastern.
Middlebury started things off by earning all three points during doubles play. The No. 3 tandem of Maddi Stow and Nora Dahl posted an 8-1 victory over Sophia He and Ana Hatfield. The Panther team of Katherine Hughes and Skylar Schossberger doubled the lead with an 8-2 win in the top flight against Olivia Leavitt and Lauren Bertsch. Middlebury's No. 2 pair of Heather Boehm and Ann Martin Skelly gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead after doubles with an 8-3 triumph over Diana Dehterevich and Keren Khromchenko.
In singles, Christina Puccinelli made the score 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Khromchenko in the third spot, while Hughes clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Dehterevich atop the lineup.
Boehm posted a 6-0, 6-3 triumph in the second spot against Leavitt, while Schossberger was victorious in the fourth slot (6-1, 6-2) over Bertsch. Stow increased the Panther advantage to 8-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at No. 5 over He, while Emily Bian completed the sweep with a 7-6 (2), 6-2 victory one spot below against Hatfield.
