Men's Alpine Places Third in Slalom

The Middlebury ski team finished in third place at the Dartmouth Carnival with 703 points. Vermont won the event with 914, followed by Dartmouth with 913. Middlebury returns to action next Friday and Saturday when it hosts its own carnival.

In Saturday's nordic action at Oak Hill, the men's and women's teams both placed third in the 3x5K classic relay event. The women's squad, comprised of Avery Ellis, Alexandra Lawson and Annika Landis finished with a combined time of 49:48. On the men's side, Peter Wolter, Lewis Nottonson and Sam Wood ended the race in 42:53.

At the Dartmouth Skiway, the Middlebury men finished third overall in the slalom race. Erik Arvidsson was the top Panther finisher, earning the sixth spot with a two-run time of 1:37.44. Justin Alkier was next, placing 14th in 1:37.27, followed by Angie Duke in 18th overall (1:39.62).

Leading the women on Saturday was Lucia Bailey, who crossed the line in seventh place with a time of 1:44.27. Madison Lord was Middlebury's next scorer, placing 15th overall in 1:45.70. Caroline Bartlett rounded out the team's scorers in 19th place, covering her two runs in 1:46.37.
