Box Score Middlebury's Katherine Jackson scored with 35.1 seconds remaining for a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over visiting Hamilton on Saturday. Eighth-ranked Middlebury (11-2-3, 7-1-2) returns to action Friday at 7:00 p.m. with a road contest at Wesleyan, while the Continentals (10-6-2, 4-4-2) are at Bowdoin the same day.
Shots were hard to come by in the early stages of the opening period, as the hosts had the contest's first four attempts, before the Continentals got one on net from Maggie Seidenberg after nearly nine minutes were expired. The visitors had a good chance in transition moments later, as Karina Sirabian's shot from the left circle was turned away by Panther goalie Anna Goldstein. Middlebury's Ellie Barney had a good shot from the left side with just over four minutes showing on the clock, but Hamilton netminder Sammy Johnson kicked out her left pad to make the save.
Middlebury opened the second stanza with a power play, with Johnson coming up with a glove save on a shot by Barney to keep the game scoreless. Hamilton had a quality chance with just over three minutes expired on a power play of its own, as Goldstein made a sharp kick save on a slap shot from the right side by Emily Williams. Goldstein came up with two more key stops, thwarting Missy Segall's shot from the slot and Nancy Loh's rebound bid.
The Continentals got on the scoreboard in the final minute of the frame, as Loh controlled a batted puck in the neutral zone and skated in on a breakaway. Loh deked to her right and backhanded a shot over Goldstein's shoulder. The Panthers pulled even at 1-1 just 2:32 into the final frame when Eva Hendrikson's slap shot from the right point got through traffic and behind Johnson for her fourth tally of the season. Hamilton forged back into the lead 10 minutes later when Mya Barretta knocked in her own rebound.
Middlebury tied the game with 3:25 left in the contest, as Barney buried a pass from Katarina Shuchuk on a 2-on-1 deep in the slot. The winning goal started from behind the Panther goal line with a long outlet pass from Anna Zumwinkle to Sidney Portner. Portner got the puck deep and centered it to the top of the crease where Jackson poked it into the net for Middlebury's first lead of the contest.
The visitors pulled Johnson with 14 seconds left for an extra attacker, with Goldstein making a save on Taegan Blackwell as the horn sounded.
Goldstein finished with 21 saves for the Panthers, while Johnson had 26 stops for the Continentals. Middlebury held a 29-23 edge in shots the hosts came up empty in two power-play opportunities and Hamilton went 0-4.
