The Middlebury alpine ski team kicked of the carnival portion of its 2019 season at St. Lawrence. Due to high winds and cold temperatures, the GS was moved to Saturday with the slalom races taking place on Friday. Races are taking place on Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, New York. Dartmouth leads after one day with 244 points, followed by UNH (195) and UVM (170). The Panthers are currently in fifth place with 164 points.

The Middlebury women were paced by Caroline Bartlett, who ended her two runs with a time of 1:38.34, good for eighth place. Next for the Panthers was Madison Lord, who placed a career-best 15th overall with a time of 1:40.08. Middlebury's third scorer was Samantha McClellan, who came in 19th in her first collegiate race with a time of 1:40.84.

Erik Arvidsson led the men's team with a third-place overall finish in 1:32.41. Middlebury's second racer to complete the course was Max Stamler, who turned in a career-best finish of 12th overall with a time of 1:36.43. Rounding out the scorers was Pate Campbell, whose two-run time of 1:47.61 was affecting by hiking, earning him the 32nd spot. Panther Tim Gavett was fifth after the first run, but was forced to hike on his second trip down the mountain and placed 43rd.
