Middlebury Moves Past Morrisville State

Jack Daly added to his nation's-best 9.1 assists/game by dishing out a career-high 14, as 16th-ranked Middlebury (9-3) downed Morrisville State 85-64 in Pepin Gym. The Panthers return to NESCAC play on Friday night when they host Bates at 7:00 p.m., while the Mustangs (5-6) visit Keuka on Wednesday.

Morrisville State jumped out to a 7-2 lead, before Middlebury went on a 15-0 run, taking a 17-7 advantage at the 14:04 mark. The Panthers went 3-3 behind the arc led by five points from Joey Leighton.

Ahead 19-12 with 13:14 remaining, Middlebury took its largest lead of the half (30-16) after scoring 11 of the next 15 points.

The Mustangs outscored the Panthers 9-4 over the final 6:47 of the half, cutting the deficit to 36-29 at the break.

Middlebury opened the second stanza with an 11-4 run, with threes from Matt Folger and Jack Farrell, increasing its advantage to 47-35 with 16:44 remaining.

Again leading by 12, the Panthers went on a decisive 12-0 run, holding a 78-54 lead at the 4:05 mark. Five different players scored during the span, including Hilal Dahleh, who capped the spurt with two of his 12 points. The lead grew to as many as 25, before Middlebury came away with the 85-64 victory.

Dahleh, Eric McCord (6-8) and Adisa Majors (5-7) each scored 12 points to lead the Panthers. Folger added 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Daly collected seven boards to go along with his 14 helpers.

Kevin Dennis paced the Mustangs with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds. Derek Beames contributed 13 points and eight rebounds, while Brison Hall scored 12 and pulled down nine boards.
