The third-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team increased its winning streak to five with an 8-1 NESCAC road victory Saturday afternoon at #7 Bowdoin (10-3, 4-2). The league match was played on the Pickard Tennis Courts. Middlebury (8-3, 5-0) returns to action on Friday with a 2:00 p.m. home tilt against #22 MIT.

The visitors started things by notching all three points during doubles play. The No. 2 tandem of Kaysee Orozco and Catherine Blazye posted an 8-4 victory over Bowdoin's Tess Trinka and Pilar Giffenig. The Panther team of Alexandra Fields and Christina Puccinelli followed suit with an 8-0 win in the third flight versus Sasa Jovanovic and Tasha Christ, while the No. 1 pair of Katherine Hughes and Skylar Schossberger were victorious 9-7 over Joulia Likhanskaia and Samantha Stadler.

In singles, the Panthers claimed the first five matches to finish. Fields breezed by Likhanskaia at No. 1 (6-3, 6-0), while Blazye clinched the match in the fourth spot with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Giffenig. Molly Paradies made it a 6-0 score with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph against Jovanovic in the fifth slot, while Puccinelli posted a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 over Trinka. Heather Boehm was a 6-1, 7-6 (2) winner over Stadler at No. 3 for an 8-0 Panther advantage.

In the final match to conclude, Schossberger won the first set 7-6 (2) against Christ, but the Polar Bear leveled the match via a 6-3 score in set number two. Christ gained the lone point for Bowdoin with a win in the third-set superbreaker.
