Middlebury Runners Shine at Connecticut College Invitational

The Middlebury men's and women's cross country teams both turned in outstanding performances at the Connecticut College Invitational Saturday, as the women claimed the team title and the men finished second. The ninth-ranked Panther women topped the 21-team field with 36 points, while the 18th-ranked men placed second among 20 institutions with 77 points. Middlebury has next weekend off, before competing at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Bates on October 28. 

All five Panthers who scored in the women's race finished in the top 10. Abigail Nadler was fourth overall in the field of 273 runners, completing the 6K course in 22:09.3. Katherine MacCary was fifth in 22:10.9, while Meg Wilson crossed the finish line in 22:46.9 for eighth place. Tasha Greene was next in ninth place, running to a time of 22:55.4 and Rory Kelly finished one spot later in 22:56.2.

The overall winner of the race was Kaitlyn Mooney from the Coast Guard with a top time of 21:35.8.

Ascencion Aispuro was the first Panther to cross the finish line in the men's 8K, finishing 10th among 282 runners in 25:40.01. Matt D'Aquila was 12th in 25:41.1 and Harrison Knowlton placed 16th in 25:55.0. Theo Henderson (26:01.7) was 19th with Andrew Michelson (26:14.5) finishing 25th.

Rensselaer won the men's title with 55 points, which included Grant O'Connor's top-individual effort of 24:32.4.
