Williams holds a one-stroke lead over Trinity after one day of action at the 2016 NESCAC Men's Golf Qualifier. The Ephs shot a 290 on Saturday, followed by the Bantams (291), Amherst (294) and Middlebury (295). Action took place at the par-71, 6,315-yard Ralph Myhre Golf Course on the campus of Middlebury College. Play resumes on Sunday morning with tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. The top-four teams advance to the spring championship at the site of the lowest-scoring team following tomorrow's second-day action.
Amherst's Cameron Clark led the field on day one, firing a two-under-par 69, one stroke better than Gran Raffel and Ross Hoffman of Williams as well as Bowdoin's Tom Dunleavy. Jack Junge of Trinity rounded out the top five with a 71.
Philippe Morin and Rodrigo Andrade each shot a 72 to pace the home team. David McDaniel carded a 74, while Reid Buzby and Jeffrey Giguere each shot a 77 for the Panthers.
