Middlebury sits in fourth place after two days of racing at the Colby Carnival. On Saturday, Rob Cone paced the alpine men, finishing second in the slalom with a time of 1:29.50. Kelsey Phinney picked up another win on the nordic side, taking home the title in the 15K classic race with a time of 49:46. After the conclusion of Sunday's nordic races, Dartmouth won the carnival with 921 points, followed by UVM (917), UNH (912) and the Panthers (746).
Also scoring for the nordic women on Saturday were Nicolette Amber in 15th place (52:48) and Kaitlin Fink, who placed 29th with a time of 53:56. The three helped lead the group to a third-place finish.
Pacing the men's squad was Patrick McElravey, who crossed the line 12th in 43:08 during the 15K classic event. Evan Weinman was next for the Panthers in 26th place (44:21), followed by Adam Luban, who came in 28th overall (44:21).
Helping the men to a third-place finish in the slalom was Colin Hayes, whose top-10 effort put him in eighth place with a time of 1:30.70. Christopher McKenna and Ghassan Gedeon Achi were the team's second and third scorers, finishing in a tie for 15th place, both crossing the line in 1:32.51.
The alpine women were led by Caroline Bartlett, who came in 18th overall with a time of 1:36.82. The next pack of Panthers claimed spots 23-25, led by Elle Gilbert with a time of 1:38.22. Lexi Calcagni was next in 1:38.63, followed by Katy Greene (1:38.69).
