Third-seeded Amherst advanced to the NESCAC Championship with a 5-4 win over second-seeded Middlebury (9-6) on Proctor Courts at Middlebury College. The Ephs will take on the winner of the Williams in the title match at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Middlebury opened with a point as Alexandra Fields and Lauren Amos defeated Sarah Monteagudo and Safi Aly 8-4 in #3 doubles. Amherst tied the match at #2 when Jackie Calla and Maddy Sung topped Jennifer Sundstrom and Kaysee Orozco by a score of 8-5. The Jeffs then took a 2-1 match lead when Vickie Ip and Sue Ghosh were 8-4 winners over Ria Gerger and Lily Bondy in the top spot.

Fields tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ghosh in the second spot. Monteagudo answered for Amherst at #4, topping Orozco 6-3, 6-0 to give her team a one-point lead. Gerger took down Ip at #1 in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 to again knot the match.

Panther Margot Marchese defeated Megan Adamo 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) at #5 to give Middlebury its first lead since 1-0. The lead did not last long as Claire Carpenter outlasted Katie Paradies 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in the sixth spot. The match came down to Calla vs. Bondy at #3. Bondy won the first set 6-3 before dropping the next two by scores of 6-3 and 6-1.
