Following a brief two-match losing streak, the eighth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team got back to its winning ways Sunday with a 9-0 road NESCAC victory over Bates (4-10, 1-5) in Maine. The Panthers (8-5, 3-2) conclude the regular-season portion of their schedule when they host third-ranked Amherst on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Middlebury cruised through all three matches in doubles' action as the Panthers maneuvered their lineup around a bit. The Panther tandem of Kaysee Orozco and Jennifer Sundstrom secured the first point at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 victory over Elena Mandzhukova and Elizabeth Erbafina. At #2, the duo of Lauren Amos and Alexandra Fields eased to an 8-2 win over Maisie Silverman and Kelsey Pearson. The pair of Sadie Shackelford and Katie Paradies completed the sweep via an 8-1 win over Emma Blakeley and Kate Rosenthal in the third slot.
In singles play, the Panthers cruised to straight-set wins in all six flights. Ria Gerger posted a 7-6 (4), 7-5 victory at #1, while Fields defeated Erbafina at #2 by scores of 6-0, 6-3. Paradies eased past Silverman in the third flight via set scores of 6-2, 6-1 and Shackelford bested Rosenthal at #4 by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores.
At the bottom of the lineup, Amos defeated Olivia Voccola by scores of 7-5, 6-1 in the fifth spot, while Sundstrom completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #6 over Pearson.
