Box Score The fourth-ranked Middlebury women's hockey team extended its unbeaten streak to 16 games (13-0-3) with a 3-0 blanking of Connecticut College Saturday afternoon at Dayton Arena. The victory completes a two-game sweep for the Panthers, who currently hold a four-point lead in the NESCAC standings.
Jessica Young, Hannah Bielawski and Katie Mandigo all contributed with goals for the Panthers. Madeline Marsh made 31 saves en route to the shutout, improving her record to 9-0-2 this season.
Connecticut College's Kelsie Fralick finished with 32 saves for the Camels and had 65 saves in the two-game set for the hosts.
The Panthers improved to 16-2-3 overall while upping their conference record to 11-1-2. The Camels fell to 11-8-3 and are 6-6-2 in the league.
Middlebury enjoyed a 15-7 advantage on the shot chart in the opening period. With six minutes left in the first, the Panthers took a 1-0 lead. Emily Fluke made a nice centering pass to Young who buried the slapper from the slot to put the visitors on top. It was Young's 12th goal of the season and Fluke's conference-leading 19th assist.
In the middle period, the Panthers extended their lead with 4:35 remaining. Bielawski collected a rebound in a scrum out in front of the cage and snuck one past Fralick to the far post side of the goal. Maddie Winslow and Elizabeth Wulf assisted on the score.
In the final period, the Camels held a 12-6 advantage in shots. Connecticut College pulled its goalie with 4:11 remaining and applied heavy pressure on Marsh.
Amelia Dineen had a nice bid on a one-timer, but Marsh was able to make the terrific stop to keep the Camels off the scoreboard.
In the closing moments, Mandigo closed out the win with an empty net goal, her seventh of the season and second in as many days to close out the 3-0 win.
Middlebury held a 35-31 advantage in shots in the contest.
