Women's Tennis Edged By Bowdoin

In a battle of two top-10 nationally-ranked squads, #7 Bowdoin edged out #10 Middlebury 5-4 in a match played on Proctor Courts. The Panthers (8-5, 3-2) return to action next Friday when they host Tufts, while the Polar Bears will host Williams next Saturday (12-5, 6-1).

Bowdoin held a 2-1 lead after doubles, as Middlebury's Ria Gerger and Kaysee Orozco defeated Emma Lewis and Joulia Likhanskaia 8-4 in the top spot for the team's lone point.

Middlebury tied the match in singles play when Alexandria Fields bested Tiffany Cheng 6-1, 6-2 in the #1 slot. The Panthers moved on top after Orozco topped Kate Winningham 6-3, 6-4 at #2.

Bowdoin pulled even with a victory at #4 when Samantha Stalder defeated Margot Marchese, 6-3, 6-3. The Polar Bears went up 4-3 after Likhanskaia topped Lily Bondy, 6-2, 6-2 in the third slot.

Bowdoin sealed the match at #6 singles when Kyra Silitch was a 6-3, 6-3 victor over Sadie Shackelford. Middlebury took the final match, as Dorrie Paradies earned a 6-4, 7-6 (2) win over Emma Lewis in the fifth spot.
