XCountry Teams Place Second at NCAA Regionals

The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NCAA New England Regional hosted by the University of Southern Maine on Saturday. Both Panther teams placed second in the event to Williams, qualifying as a team for the NCAA Championships.

The second-ranked women were topped by the Ephs, with Williams coming in with 45 points, followed by Middlebury (57) and MIT (127). Alison Maxwell and Erzsie Nagy paced the Middlebury squad at the event, finishing in fourth (21:27) and fifth (21:28) respectively. The next three Panther racers also finished in a group, holding down the 15th, 16th and 17th-place spots. Emily Singer led the pack in 21:46, followed by Katherine Tercek (21:47.01) and Sarah Guth (21:47.99).

The sixth-ranked men were narrowly edged by the Ephs, earning 78 points, finishing ahead of MIT (113), but second to Williams (77). Greg Krathwohl was the team's top finisher, coming in eighth place overall with a time of 24:53. Placing 10th at the event was Kevin Wood in 24:56, followed by Nate Sans in 13th place (25:00). Wilder Schaaf also earned a top-20 finish with a 16th-place effort (25:06), followed by Samuel Craft in 31st place (25:27).
