Third-ranked Middlebury picked up a 75-46 road win at St. Joseph's of Vermont on Wednesday night, improving to 16-0 on the season. Peter Lynch led the Panthers with another impressive shooting performance, going 9-11 for 22 points on the night. Recent 1,000-point scorer Nolan Thompson netted 11 in the win, while Joey Kizel (6 assists) and Jake Wolfin (5 assists) ran the back court.
Ramel Anderson led the 8-10 Fighting Saints with 15 points. Dre Anderson added 12 and Travis Threewit had seven.
The Saints were in the game for a while, trailing 12-8 early. Thompson nailed a three to make it 19-11 and they extended the lead to 30-17 by halftime. Middlebury finished the game shooting .564 from the floor, holding a 52-32 rebounding advantage.
Middlebury will face a challenge on Saturday when it hits the road for a NESCAC game against Williams. The Ephs are 16-1 and ranked ninth the country.
