Men's Soccer Battles To Scoreless Tie With Wesleyan

Box Score

Middlebury and Wesleyan played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer on a cold rainy day in Vermont. The Panthers move to 2-2-3 overall and 0-2-3 in NESCAC play, while the Cardinal's record goes to 5-0-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the league. Wesleyan entered the game ranked 10th nationally and second in New England. Middlebury returns to action on Sunday when they host Connecticut College at 2:00 p.m.

Each team had a few scoring chances in the first half, but could not find the back of the net. The Panthers had an opportunity at the 53:12 mark as Tyler Smith crossed to Graham Knisley, but Adam Purdy was there to make a sliding save. The Cardinals had a great look in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the crossbar.

Middlebury ended the contest with a 14-6 shots advantage, as Purdy and Middlebury's Tim Cahill each finished with three saves apiece.
