#19 Men’s Soccer Cruises Past Endicott

The 19th-ranked Middlebury men's soccer team used five first-half tallies to best Endicott by a 6-0 margin in Tuesday's home opener from South Street Field. Six different Panthers rustled the net in the victory.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The visitors fired the first shot of the match with 3:11 expired. Cole Loisel dialed up a bid that sailed over the crossbar.
  • Will Sawin gave the hosts a 1-0 advantage in the sixth minute. Hamin Kim delivered a crisp pass off a corner kick that glanced off Sawin's head and past sprawled-out goalkeeper Colby Webber.
  • Sawin nearly doubled the Middlebury advantage with 35:21 remaining, settling a through ball from Charlie Johnson and eyeing the low-left corner. Webber stuck out his foot and snuffed out the chance.
  • The second Panther tally came in the 10th minute off another corner kick. Kim's ball found the head of JT Federman, who rustled the right panel to double the lead.
  • Just over nine minutes later, Colin Dugan dashed to a pristine feed from Harper Nicholl and tapped a bid into the left side for a 3-0 advantage.
  • Dylan Payne joined the scoring column with 22:22 gone. Keagan Harder slid into a pass to Payne, who looped a high attempt over Webber's head and into the lower-right corner (4-0).
  • Amidst a scrum in the Gulls box in the 30th minute, Nicholl tapped a quick bid to his left, where Elias Androus fired a low laser into the right side to establish a five-goal lead at the halftime break.
  • Endicott looked to cut into the margin with 37:58 remaining. Nick Ferrara wound up and struck a bid from 18 yards that sailed over the crossbar.
  • The match was finalized in the 79th minute when Felix Rubinstein tracked a bouncing ball in the box and buried a low-right bid to cap the six-goal victory. 
NOTES
  • Rubinstein's marker was his first in a Middlebury uniform.
  • Kim and Nicholl each logged career-highs with two assists apiece.
  • The Panthers improved to 3-0 in the all-time series against the Gulls.
Middlebury returns to South Street Field on Saturday when it hosts #9 Connecticut College at 12:00 p.m.
