Middlebury College

The #19 Middlebury men's soccer team directed all three of its shots on target to seal a 3-0 upset of #9 Connecticut College on Saturday from South Street Field. 

HIGHLIGHTS

• With 3:38 elapsed, Marco Perugini dribbled up the field and ripped a shot from the center of the goalie box that bounded wide of the left post.
• Orlando Cavaceppi-Dove settled a bouncing ball just inside the 18-yard box at the 12:23 mark. The defender fired a shot that ricocheted off a Camel and out of harm's way.
• Two minutes later, Shinya Frank laced a bid from about 10 yards out, but Panther goalie Leon Brody slid to his right and smothered the ball.
• Connecticut College ramped up the pressure in the 37th minute. Max Haberman flipped a strike toward the center of the net. Brody stood his ground and made the stop, but the ball spilled back into the box. The Panther defense stood its ground and cleared it away.
• Middlebury broke the scoreless bout with 2:16 left in the first half. Elias Androus raced to the endline and saved the ball from going out of bounds. The defender sent the ball back toward the top of the box, where Keagan Harder flicked a strike into the right side of the net and past goalie Casey Shea.
• The Camels created the first chance of the second half nearly 12 minutes into the stanza. Charlie Miles collected the ball near the box before firing toward the center of the goal. Charlie Johnson spun his body and deflected the shot away with his hip.
• The hosts doubled their lead with 63:14 expired. Cavaceppi-Dove sent a through pass to a darting Will Sawin near the left post. The senior did the rest, guiding the ball into the left panel.
• Connecticut College tested Brody again three minutes later off the foot of Jayden Fokuo. The goalie dove to his right and smothered the chance.
• Middlebury added a third marker at 71:41. Colin Dugan forced a turnover deep in the Camel zone and darted to his right with possession before finishing into the bottom-right side.
• Max Weiss (73:51) and Thomas Rooney (84:07) fired shots on target over the final 20 minutes, but Brody denied each look to seal the 3-0 shutout. 

NOTES

• Harder tallied his 15th goal in a Middlebury uniform.
• Brody tied her career-best output with six stops for this third shutout of the campaign.
• Saturday's contest marked the third consecutive game that each goal was scored by a different player.
• The programs met for the 44th time with the Panthers logging their 29th victory in the series.
• After the game, the program dedicated its scoreboard in honor of Reid Payne '89.

Middlebury continues its four-game conference slate at Amherst on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
