XCountry Opens Season

The Middlebury cross country teams opened up their season with a meet at Plattsburgh on Saturday. The men placed second among five teams, while the women tied for first with Plattsburgh in the four-team race.

Senior Alexandra Krieg (Wellesley, Mass.) picked up right where she left off as she captured the race with a time of 18:57. Placing third in the race was sophomore Hannah Meier (Charlotte, Vt.) with a time of 19:50, followed closely by sophomore Sophia Spring (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) in 19:51. Sophomore Kaitlynn Saldanha (Scarborough, Maine) placed ninth overall and fourth for Middlebury with a time of 20:20, while senior Emily Jacobs (Greene, Maine) wrapped up the scorers with a 12th place finish (20:28).

The men's team was led by a pack of three runners who placed 9th, 10th and 11th respectively. Senior Rainey Johnson (St. Louis, Mo.) led the pack with a time of 16:38, followed by sophomores Nat Nelson and Stanis Moody-Roberts, who both finished with a time of 16:39. Junior Christopher Free (Wallingford, Pa.) came in 17th place in the race in 16:49, followed by sophomore Jack Terrett (Sherborn, Mass.) in 19th place with a time of 16:51.
