Offensive Burst Leads Middlebury Past S. Vermont

Aaron Smith poured in 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on 11 of 15 shooting to lead Middlebury to a 107-79 road win at Southern Vermont. Adding to Smith's efforts on the night was Andrew Locke, who came off the bench and pumped home 17 points in 15 minutes of action. Mike Walsh scored 12 points in the win, while Kyle Dudley and Ben Rudin (7 assists) added 10 points apiece. The Panthers shot 55 percent from the floor in the win.

The home team led 17-13 with 13 minutes left in the first half when Nick Harrington, the nation's leading rebounder picked up his second personal foul. He would sit out for a mere 82 seconds but Middlebury scored nine points and never trailed from there. Middlebury slowly spread the gap in the second half, pushing a 48-40 halftime score to 66-49 with 11:30 left. From there, the game was never in doubt and the road team handed the Mountaineers a loss for the fourth straight game.

Harrington scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed a game-best 16 boards for S. Vermont.
